Synthos
Synthos
Synthos, from the elven word “Syntosa” (“Elf Land”), is the second known continent on the world of Elimet. Though it lacks the advanced civilizations found on Belanthos, it is believed the first settled as there are far more ancient ruins on Synthos. Celasyn (“high elves”) explorers from Celaque followed the legends of a land across the sea and traveled east from Belanthos where they discovered untamed lands and met primitive elves called Saesyn (“wood elves”) who lived by hunting and gathering. Bestowing a name on it, they claimed this new land for all elfkind and established a small outpost for trade. A century passed and political strife in Celaque brought outside refugees and conflict to the Saesyn, who must now protect their lands from their invading cousins.
Elsewhere on Synthos, other nations arrived. Dunst and Daven, a pair of explorers from Belanthia made landfall south of the elflands and established the first human colony, Davenport in the new world. After two harsh decades of poor supplies, harsh weather, and conflict with local lizardfolk tribes, the colony has stabilized and outward expansion has begun. King Alfred of Belanthia has even offered land grants to settlers willing to relocate to the Untamed Lands.
This opportunity to start new has brought many adventurers to the land in search of wealth and glory. It has also brought an opportunity for one group of people to escape oppression. Sorcerers, those with the natural gift to use magic, have been hunted and arrested by the Brotherhood of the Threefold Path, a wizard organization that believes magic should be carefully controlled and not used freely. Sorcerers have been flocking to Synthos in the hope that they can escape the Brotherhood’s reach. However, the Brotherhood has recently established their first tower in Davenport and a war between these two factions looms on the distant horizon.
